We are in the process of mixing the new release and have a big mixing day coming up this Sunday, November 13 with Harry Evans. We hope to have the "single" out shortly after that.

Looks like we may be about finished recording the "loud" music for our upcoming release. Thanks to Sundee and James for the use of their space.

We have created a make-shift studio (after spending all our hard-earned cash on recording gear) in the basement of a dear friend's house. We are there every chance we can get working on the Koshari release. Actually we are having a blast and hopefully will have some great songs to release in September.

Of course we miss playing out, so we are going to do a Galaxy Hut gig on August 14!

We have been really bad at blogging this past year. Sorry about that - we will try to do better.

We are in the process of writing new material and hope to record in the next few months. That being said, we probably won't be playing out much for the first few months of 2011.

Yep. It is finally done! Reappear, our 10 song release (cd) will be in our hands at the beginning of next week. We are trying to set up a release show. If you have ideas for an "interesting" venue, please let us know.

Mardis Gras thanks and new release

My Bloody Valentine at Roseland Ballroom

We aren't much into blogging, so it is quite a rarity for us to post an entry. That being said, the My Bloody Valentine show on Monday at Roseland Ballroom was life changing and deserves the text. The soul purpose of this post is to encourage anyone that can attend any of the few remaining shows to go. Skip work, skip school, spend money, drive for hours - get to the show. It is well worth it.

My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" has been an enormous influence on both me and Koshari. I think that between Bryan and I, we have owned at least 8 copies of the release - frequently giving them out to friends and bandmates. I, unfortunately missed catching their tour in the early 90s, and Bryan has always spoke about how it effected him. Still after years of talking about it, I didn't fully understand until Monday.

I've tried using many different words to recount the event. Suffice it to say, words are too "flat" to describe it. There is something so beautiful, yet frightening about the actual experience. The sonic vibrations are poetic and disorienting. It is truly melodic and three dimensional. They shatter all typical standards, and should inspire others to do the same.
Again, if you can make any of the remaining shows, do. And if if you recently saw them, enjoy how it changes your perception of music and art.

Artomatic and the great Dan Ralston

We are pleased to be playing on opening night of Artomatic on Friday, May 9 at 7:30 Sharp. This year's Artomatic will be held at Capitol Plaza I, 1200 First Street, NE Washington, DC 20002 (Metro stop: Red Line, New York Ave., M Street exit).

What is even more exciting is that the great Dan Ralston has returned to Koshari. We cannot wait to play a show with him again!

And, you never know, maybe we will have some copies of a single off the new release to distribute that night... ah, sometimes you really never know..

We are playing the Galaxy Hut in Arlington, VA (by Clarendon Metro) this Saturday 2/2/08 with The Hailing. We go on at around 9:15 p.m. - Should be a fun set.

Thanks to everyone that came out for the Iota show last Friday. What a great crowd!
We really had a good time.
And, we (Koshari) will be playing a radio show this Sunday (1/27/08) at 9 p.m.

Apologies to anyone that went to the Hut looking for us on 11/4. We got the wrong date from the club and couldn't change our schedules around soon enough to play with The Bang on 11/3. Heard it was a good show though.

We'll be sending out some more gig dates soon. Should be a fun fall/winter for koshari!

Upcoming Gigs and stuff

Hi all!
First we all want to say how glad we are that it is no longer 1000 degrees outside, but we hope that you had a good summer!

A lot has happened over the last few months. Sadly, one of the members of Koshari, Dan Ralston (drummer Danny) had to leave the band. We miss him a great deal... a great deal... but we are committed to continue playing. So, in light of that, we have a great new conspirator, Jade Smith, who will be drumming with us.

Wednesday, 10/24 at 9:00 p.m. we are opening a show at Velvet Lounge, 915 U Street, NW, Washington, DC. The Foreign Press and Christy & Emily will also be playing that night.

Sunday, 11/4 at 8:30 p.m. we are opening for The Bang at Galaxy Hut, Arlington, VA .

AND, there will be more dates and a new CD to come very soon.
